Just returned last night from a 3 day Fall Color workshop with Dan Ballard (who I will be going with to New Zealand for a private workshop next April 2014). I took several hundred photos during 6 different location shoots in the Ridgway/Ouray area just north of the San Juan mountains. The colors there have not yet peaked..almost wish I could have stayed another week...but we had great light most of the time and it even snowed on Red Mountain Pass during our first session on Friday (Sept. 27). Dan also gave an amazing 2 hour tutorial on Adobe Lightroom at the end of the workshop that provided me a wonderful workflow to achieving brilliant colors in post processing as seen below. This was taken before sunrise on the "Dallas Divide" early Sunday morning. There were many photographers besides our group, lined up here for this shot (some were with a workshop led by Colorado Photographer 'laureate' John Fielder).
I have taken off this week to drive down to New Mexico for a few days. Arrived in TAOS and took this image at dawn by the Rio Grande Gorge bridge, looking east toward the mountains near Taos. This image comprised of 3 exposures processed with Nik HDR Efex Pro software.
After receiving an invitation upon review of my work, I am now being represented by The Artrepreneur, a web based company that markets artwork including photography to the general public through their website (www.artist.cm) as well as to many other businesses such as galleries, interior design businesses, etc.
Just returned from a weekend in Moab for the 2013 10th Annual Moab Photo Symposium. I took 2 workshops - 1 with symposium organizer Bruce Hucko on water relections in Mill Creek Basin. The other workshop was with Colorado "Photographer Laureate" John Fielder who took us into Arches National Park to shoot photos along the area known as "Park Avenue" and ended up shooting sunset light on Balanced Rock as seen above. There was another workshop with Jack Dykinga that brought both groups together for this sunset shot.
Arrived in San Diego on Thursday (Jan. 17, 2013) and have been shooting photos each morning and late afternoon. Yesterday, I went to Point Loma and shot this photo from the top landing of the spiral staircase inside the old lighthouse, looking straight down at the bottom by the entrance way. I was unable to use my tripod due to the angle I needed with the camera, so I held my hand as steady as could be and released the shutter at 1/8th of a second using my Nikkor 18-200mm VR lens.
