Just returned from FOUR incredible days and nights in the Banff National Park area west of Calgary Alberta Canada with international photographer/instructor Dan Ballard. The above image was taken north west of Banff off of the Ice Fields Highway at sunset.

I just received a call last night from the owner of the CREATIVE FRAMING AND ART GALLERY (located at 916 Main Street in old downtown Louisville Colorado) inviting me to exhibit 10 to 15 photos in the art gallery for the months of November and December. I am very excited for this rare opportunity and hope that this will open the door to more opporunities to sell my work!

Arrived in San Diego on Thursday (Jan. 17, 2013) and have been shooting photos each morning and late afternoon. Yesterday, I went to Point Loma and shot this photo from the top landing of the spiral staircase inside the old lighthouse, looking straight down at the bottom by the entrance way. I was unable to use my tripod due to the angle I needed with the camera, so I held my hand as steady as could be and released the shutter at 1/8th of a second using my Nikkor 18-200mm VR lens.
]]>I drove up to Joshua Tree National Park early in the week to try and capture sunrise over the high desert. Not as fortunate with my sunset shots.
]]>I just returned yesterday from attending the 9th Annual Moab Photo Symposium in Moab, Utah. There were 11 great worshops led by excellent instructors who were all highly regarded in their respective photography fields. Each gave inspiring presentations each morning about 'their story' and how they became passionate about their work.
The Friday May 4th workshop I took, was led by Dan Ballard which started in a small Moab city park where we were given 'assignments' on shooting 1) SIMPLE!, 2) SIMPLE with a 'LINE" and 3) SIMPLE with an "S" curve line in the image. We then headed for Dead Horse Point State Park to shoot along the cliff edge as the sun got low in the sky and brought color to the rocks.
On Saturday afternoon, I participated in a workshop led by local/national photographer Tom Till that took us to Arches National Park where we drove to the EYE OF THE WHALE Arch via four-wheel drive trail off the main park road. From there, we hiked a short distance and took turns shooting on the ledge through the 'eye' when sunlight began to light up the arches' ceiling.
